Our development of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Database has been a collaborative effort between
our research staff, Dr. Ann Wang of Ithaca, New York and her team in Beijing. Following the same
editorial guidelines set for standard professional monographs, the data has been
prepared for use by Western as well as Eastern healthcare professionals. The primary
application for this information is to impart to the reader both an understanding
of the various treatments used for specific conditions and an awareness of how and
when specific herbs might be used.
Traditional Chinese Medicine Database
The single herb monographs as well as the herbal formula monographs contain information
that gives the reader an understanding of the pharmacology, toxicity, and precautions
associated with use. Having this information at hand allows a practitioner to better
monitor a patient who might concurrently be seeing an acupuncturist or Chinese Medicine
Specialist. The health conditions cover how the condition is viewed and diagnosed
in this medical arena as well as the related treatments such as acupuncture, moxibustion,
electro-acupuncture, massage, acupressure, acu-point injection therapy and others.
